Legacy

Durer's watercolors mark him as of the 1st European landscape artists, while his woodcuts revolutionized the potiential of that medium. His introduction of classical motifs into Northern art, through his knowledge of Italian artists and German humanists, has secured his reputation as one of the most important figures of the Northern Renaissance. This is reinforced by his theoretical treatise which involves principles of math, perspective and ideal proportions. Prints established his reputation across Europe when he was in his 20's, and he has been convientially regarded as the greatest artist of Ren. in Northern Europe ever since. Also, The Adoration of the Magi, is considered to be one of his greatest accomplishments and is used in History textbooks around the world.
