Contemporary Impact

 Durer was acknowledged as the first portraitist of his time. Many kings and important government officials came to him to recieve a potrait of themselves. He traveled abroad allowing him to experience and later use of the techniques he learned from Italian artists. He was noted for combining their use of ideal beauty, perspective and minute details to his classical, Gothic style. He was a well-rounded artist who created several different works that included engravings, woodcuts, portraits, altar pieces and etc. In Northern Europe he was noted, but it wasn't until many years later, that he became a world-renowned artist.
